Today in class we got into our groups and did an exercise about getting lost in the desert after surviving a plane crash. Our task was to figure out which of the 15 items listed was of the most and least importance, in numerical order. First we had to work on it individually. I think I had the highest individual score and it's pretty obvious I might not survive too long in the desert if everyone was relying on me to save them. That's kinda scary. Who would've thought a mirror would come in so handy, even above drinking water!!! Our team did really well together, having one of the lowest scores of all the teams. A few guys on our team must have been eagle scouts or something because they rocked. I guess sometimes I need to think outside the box and realize that items can be used for something other than what they were created for. My team would have been better off killing me and eating me to stay alive then having me try to get them rescued. I would assume that the exercise was to teach us that things aren't always as they seem, and even when you think you may be right, you just aren't. The exercise also taught us how to work together and decide on things as a team. At times it was difficult because some of the team members disagreed on a few of the items that they thought were more important, and we had to take a group consensus to solve the problem. Obviously, not everyone was satisfied about the entire outcome but hey, you can't always make everyone happy.
